Previously, the most recent homicide investigated by the sheriff's office took place April 21 in Piru, when a 25-year-old man allegedly stabbed to death his father, Steve A. Willis later pleaded guilty to a felony firearms discharge offense, according to Ventura County Superior Court records. Willis had been arrested in July 2018 in connection with a shooting incident in Simi Valley that reportedly injured another man.
